Sound Bath

  • Kamomile Holistic Haven 2220 B Queen Street East Toronto, ON, M4E 1E9 Canada (map)

Immerse yourself in a soothing bath of Kiko Sounds and experience a sublime inner journey of deep listening, relaxation and self-healing. Sound Baths are a form of shared meditation where frequency is used with the intention of inviting meditative and therapeutic effects into the body. They are a practice of creating stillness, quieting the mind and opening to the potential healing power of vibration intended to guide the body and mind into a state of equilibrium. This experience is suitable for all levels and bodies. Listeners are guided through gentle relaxation techniques that may include safe and simple breath work, visualization and listening practices. During the session you will be bathed in an immersive and intuitive soundscape created with a harmonic selection of overtone-emitting instruments that may include crystal alchemy and Himalayan singing bowls, chimes, mallet percussion instruments, rattles, gongs, tuning forks, shruti box and voice. Each sound bath is conceived and shared with great consideration towards Mother Nature and her seasons, planetary positions as well as the combined energies of the individuals attending. Because of this each sound bath is completely unique and shares a special magic never to be repeated again.

Sound Baths are beneficial for all beings from newcomers and those working with illnesses, injures and other limitations to advanced practitioners and experienced meditators. By inviting our bodies to pause in these deeper states of relaxation through the access point of sound, we open the door to profound journeys of self-discovery and self-healing. Our bodies experience sound through so much more than what is audible to our ears. Sound and vibration are felt through our skin, in our bones and deep within the nervous system. Receiving a sound bath can help create shifts in our bodies and this allows for the space and possibility for healing to take place on many different levels. By tuning into ourselves while sharing a communal environment, we also create the opportunity to attune to each other through the shared experience of sound.

BIO

Kiko Sounds is an artist and teacher specializing in sound, meditation, restorative practices and relational aesthetics. As co-founder of Toronto's contemporary design shop and gallery, Magic Pony + Narwhal Projects, she spent over a decade collaborating with artists from around the globe, curating exhibitions, publications, and interactive environments. She now combines her background in contemporary culture with holistic methodologies to offer ephemeral, immersive vibrational experiences intended to guide those present towards a unified state of wholeness. By creating settings for deep listening and self-discovery, Kiko intuitively encourages individuals to access the infinite potential that exists within and with one another.

After suffering a series of health issues, which stemmed from overwork and perfectionism, Kiko’s body and mind fell into a chronic state of illness. Learning how to take care became her focus. And so began the slow and gentle journey into a practice of self-compassion, kindness, and mindfulness. Meditation awakened a true state of healing and prompted her to channel and dedicate her studies into the subtle realms of restorative energetics ~ specifically sound, meditation, somatics, and yoga therapeutics.

As a certified yoga instructor, Kiko has studied Integral Sound Healing at the Svaram Music Research Center in Auroville, India; Biosonics with Dr. John Beauleau; and sound meditation with Sara Auster. She is also certified in Contemplative Psychotherapy through the Nalanda Institute (New York) and continues to study Sri Vidya and the Himalayan Sage Tradition via the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy. Recently she has begun to learn and share the subtle energy of plant medicine through flower essences alongside herbalist and healer Daisy Marquis (Black Mountain School of Natural Healing).
